November 8-9. Surgery (seriously) performed by the Erics and Further Cabinet Install to Fix Issues with Cabinets

During these two days -- Busa Construction made some major progress on the kitchen install.  Also, interior doors and trim install is moving right along. David and Derrick are also working on this phase.

I was able to witness some real surgery -- meaning, unbelievable carpentry skill being displayed -- by the Erics as they fixed issues with the cabinets ordered by Hanseem.  Although we provided the model numbers of the kitchen appliances that we are going to be using with the cabinets, it appears that June and Hanseem didn't get the right ones...  My wife dealt with June, and he promised to "make sure that we get the kitchen that we wanted."  I hope he pulls through on this.  So far, June sent out people to cut the double oven cabinets.  That said, all of these lead to delays on the install...  and further delayed the gas and electric hookup...   Eric to avoid further delays did some "surgery" on the rangetop cabinets to make the rangetop "fit."  Eric could have simply blamed June and added further delay, but he "fixed" it.  Thanks guys.  This is something we'll address with June.  I'll update you on how June and his company deals with it...

Surgery by the Erics:

Eric measuring -- and yes, the cabinet is too tall for the rangetop.  The rangetop edges would be higher than the granite.  Cuts will be needed on the front frame.  and the side to accommodate.  This is a delicate process.  As you can see the front frame top is pretty thin to begin with and the cuts will need to be done well so that no one can see any uneven cuts, etc.

Also, as you can see, they had to pull the installed cabinet (i.e., uninstall) to gain access.  Work down the drain...  Those lips on the side and front of the cabinet needs to be cut off...

Prepping the cabinets for the cuts:

Pic below shows the cuts made and the new plywood added to the top to reinforce the cabinets.  Each Eric took a turn with the cuts.  It turned out perfectly.  They will need to reposition the drawer front frames to account for the drop in the cabinets...  I can not wait to discuss this with June at Hanssem. Thank God, my wife wasn't around.. she would have had a heart attack.

The pantry installed... moulding etc. still left to do...

We'll have to do something with that hood...  Another story.

As you can see the double oven is waiting to be installed:

Al came and primed the upstairs as well, prior to the trim work.  Take a look at the following pics:

Trim around the deck/patio door:

Further progress was also made with the landscaping.  As you can see the loam has been put in the back and side yards.

Also, the pavers for the border of the front lawn and the new driveway was installed:
